Why the need to equip fixed running boards?

Dude, I was so pumped when GM said they were gonna put powered retractable steps in the Cadillac Escalade IQ. I mean how sleek is that? But then they switched it up and went with fixed running boards instead.It was still cool, but why not stick with the electric ones, right? At least theyd give buyers the option to choose between fixed or electric running boards. Gotta love having choices!
