You may have to wait a little longer if you've been waiting for GM to be able to use Tesla's Supercharger network. Initially, the rollout was scheduled for spring 2024, but recent reports from PCMag confirm that it has been pushed back to later this year.
Tesla's website still says that GM, Volvo, and Polestar cars will be able to use the 15,000 Supercharger stations starting in the spring of 2024, but both GM and Polestar have confirmed that this is not the case. Polarstar said that they now think they will be able to get access by late summer, but they didn't give any other information.
Meanwhile, GM added that Tesla's Supercharger network adapters will be available through their GM brand apps later this year. The Tesla-designed NACS (North American Charging Standard) port can be changed to the CCS (Combined Charging System) port used by EVs that aren't Teslas. This lets those EVs connect to the Supercharger network.
Ford and Rivian, which gained access to the network earlier this year, are currently distributing their own adapters to drivers. Tesla's recent layoffs of its entire Supercharger team may be contributing to the delays, but it appears we'll have to wait until the summer for more updates.
